When I was pregnant I always thought I’d be great at encouraging sensory play, I saw all of the DIY creations on Pinterest and even made my own board but I just never got round to making them. Recently though there is no escaping Rory’s development and his need for sensory stimulation. He has started to become so interested in finding new things to feel and hold, different motions and textures as well as bright lights and learning to communicate. When we were asked to take a look at the BKIDS Infantino Range I jumped at the chance and these have quickly become some of our go-to toys.
Sensory Textured Multi Ball Set:
These are by far our favourite new toy! For Rory they are everything he could ever want from a toy right now. They’re bright and colourful, easy for him to hold and great for his hand eye co-ordination. He loves to touch and feel all the different shapes and textures. For me, they are easy to clean and very easy to take with me on the go. When I am doing the food shop or we are in the car I will chuck a couple in my changing bag and get them out when he starts to get bored. At just £9.99 this set is really great for the little ones while still having longevity. I plan on keeping this one for years as he learns to kick, catch and juggle – these will come in really handy! Leon the Chameleon:
This is a really smart toy with lots going on, although it’s a little old for Rory right now, it has a huge amount of longevity and he already appreciates the singing, lights and different textures of the shapes. We are really conscious that Rory is going to start talking over the next few months (hopefully!) so we are trying to pick buzz words to tell him and this really helps with that as it teaches shapes and colours. Leon works by asking you to put in a coloured shape. Once you’ve inserted the shape, Leon’s back changes to match. Next, he’ll ask for another coloured shape, once answered correctly Leon’s back changes to match the required colour. Then the magic really starts. Leon will tell you that the 2 colours mixed together make and his back then changes to identify this colour. Rory’s personal favourite feature? Pushing down Leon’s back his eyes spin around and he makes a great fun sound as all the shapes pop off. Click Here to Buy.
Snap & Pop Pals:
Rory really loves these. Since his last leap he is very tactile and learning via his hands. He is really amazed by new shapes and textures so these fit the bill perfectly. They are also a really nice size for him to hold and move as well as being perfect for him to work on his co-ordination as he likes to either teethe in them or bring them closer to his face to really take them in.
