There are dozens of reasons why you might want to refresh your bedroom. Perhaps you’ve reached that point of reclaiming the room after weaning your baby? Or maybe you’ve simply been so busy parenting that you’ve neglected your needs for too long? Sleep is a big part of our day, even when we have a newborn! Sometimes a change is as good as a rest, or so they say.
Of course, having a baby around, you’re more frugal than ever. You know that the household budget is going to get stretched further and further as your little one grows. Don’t panic. Even if you’re just after a seasonal change, you can completely refresh your bedroom without breaking the bank. Here are just a few of the ways you can make it happen:
You don’t need to buy an entire new bed to make the most of a comfortable night of sleep. Why not just invest in a new mattress? They say beds should be replaced every seven or eight years. But what they are really referring to is the sleeping surface or your mattress. You can pick up a cheap double mattress when you order online, and with a speedy delivery, you can sleep well the following night.
If your bedroom is already painted a neutral colour, you can add any other colour without a problem. This makes is so much easier to take advantage of seasonal changes or just to colour by whim. Duvet or bedding sets are easy to find online, in the bedding store, or even at the supermarket. Just pick a colour, and go from there. Next, add a couple of cushions. You might choose to just buy the covers. Then hang a colourful contemporary wall art. If your budget stretches, throw in a pair of curtains too. You can easily change back if you like.
Scented candles can be used to fragrance any room, but in the bedroom, they can make quite a difference to your sleep. Lavender, in particular, is thought to promote relaxation and restful sleep. Simply altering the scent in the room could be enough of a change to help you enjoy a night in bed. In the winter, you might be reluctant to open a window for fresh air!
Have you thought about changing the lighting in your bedroom? Most of us sit up and read or watch TV for a while before we fall asleep. If you’re looking for a big change on a small budget, then try a different light bulb. Bulbs, particularly LEDs come in different colour temperatures. Some can even be altered by phone app. Changing the lamp shade will also change the quality of light in the room. You might feel it has changed the colour of the room or where the shadows fall too. Make your bedroom more cosy with a warm coloured light.
A little change might be all you need to see, smell, and feel a big difference in your bedroom. You don’t have to spend much to see results. Sleep well.
