How to Make your Home look Way More Family Friendly

November 22, 2010

If you have kids, then you will know how important it is for you to incorporate their personality into your home as well as your own. This can be difficult if you just don’t know where to start, but there are a few things that you can do to make everything easier.

Frame your Kid’s Art

Frame your children’s masterpieces and also display them with pride. If you invest in some high-quality frames, then you’ll soon be able to make them blend in your home and you may even find that it gives them a sense of pride too. The best thing about kid’s paintings or drawings is that they often have a degree of personality and colour, and this can go a long way if you feel as though your home is somewhat lifeless or lacking in fun.

Branch Away from Pink and Blue

Colour and patterns are always great options when it comes to your kid’s bedroom. You don’t need to stick to pink or blue however, in fact, sometimes branching out is certainly the way to go. If you are stuck for ideas then you may want to go for green or even yellow. This can emit a calming vibe with an exciting level of energy, and this is exactly what you should be aiming for in your child’s bedroom. A white rug will work with virtually any colour, so that’s always worth the investment.

Open up your Space

If you feel as though your space needs to accommodate your large or growing family, then you might want to think about having an open dining room. You can also then turn part of it into a game’s room as well. This will help you to spend more time together and you would be surprised at what a difference it can make. If you want your space to feel nice and consistent then you need to make sure that you have a neutral colour palette and that you also tie in some of the other décor across the other parts of the room.

Have a Wooden Dining Table

Rustic wood is the best choice if you have kids. Solid wood can take a real beating and it can also handle food spillages too. The best thing about rustic wood is that it doesn’t have any sharp edges so you won’t have to worry about it chipping like veneer. Glass is quite possibly the worst option because it shows up every single smudge and smear, which is the last thing that you need.

Display Family Photos

You should always try and keep any family photos you have in a personal space. This could include having them leading to the bedroom or even in the playroom. This way you can make your main rooms a little clutter-free.

Of course, there are so many ways that you can make your family space feel much nicer. When you follow the above tips, you will soon find that it’s never been easier for you to do this either.
