How I Made £300+ a Month Whilst On Maternity Leave (Tax Free!)

*DISCLAIMER* I am genuinely writing this post to help other people. Matched Betting has genuinely changed our lives and helped us out as a family tonnes. It’s a fantastic way to make extra income that is risk-free and tax-free. I am just writing this post to inform and educate about this hidden gem, HOWEVER, If you do decide to sign up to Profit Accumulator it would mean a huge amount if you could use my referral code “178175” – Thank you!

If you have gone from a full-time wage (or any wage for that matter) to statutory maternity pay then you may have felt that sting in your pocket. Don’t get me wrong, we are incredibly lucky to be in a position to be paid for our maternity leave, but the adjustment can be a hard one none the less.

Whilst I was still employed I had heard about something called Matched Betting from a couple of my friends Emma & Kirsty. They told me about this fab new way to earn legal, tax-free money but the more I read into it, the more it just seemed way too complicated. I sent the links to Rich and told him it may be something he could get into and left it there.

I started my maternity leave a few weeks before my due date and very quickly maternity leave boredom kicked in whilst waiting for Rory to be born, so I decided I would give Matched Betting a go. Everywhere I read gave the advice that Profit Accumulator was the best resource to use as it had step by step videos on exactly what you needed to do. I decided to sign up for their free trial and just by doing that I made £40 in about an hour of watching the videos and practising what they showed me. I was really excited. After the free trial to sign up it costs £17.99 a month, so I decided to hold off until Rich got home and discuss it with him. As I explained it we both couldn’t believe about this not-so-hidden treasure we had come across and decided to sign up.

I’m not going to go to into the hows and whys of how it works because there are so many resources explaining it and to be completely honest until you watch the videos, they’re just confusing but in very basic terms Matched Betting is this:

You place a qualifying bet with a bookie and an exchange for a bet to win and to not win, you use your own real money to do this and doing so you will lose about 50p. The bookie will then offer you a Free Bet! Say you had a £10 Free Bet, you go through the same process, you place your bet to WIN with the bookie and then place it to NOT WIN at your exchange. Therefore it is RISK FREE! You cannot lose your money! You will make about £8 profit doing this. That whole process will take about 10 minutes! £8 for 10 minutes… I know!

Anyway, it’s really hard to wrack your head around until you watch the videos so my best advice is to do that, sign up for the free trial where you will make some money and if you decide then it’s not for you… well you’ll be about £40 richer!

I’ve decided instead of explaining too much into the hows and whys of how it works I would answer the frequently asked questions I get about it!

Q1. Surely it’s too good to be true? What’s the catch?
A1. I thought the exact same thing. I was scared as to what I was signing up for, surely it was a con? Nope. That is the joy. It genuinely is THAT GOOD. I have made a fair amount of profit through it, as have the friends I have recommended it too. It is a legitimate way to make a decent amount of money dependent on the amount of time you were willing to put into it.

Q2. It’s too complicated, I don’t get it.
A2. Initially, it does feel complicated, it took me ages and a lot of convincing from Emma to sign up to it and thank god, I have never looked back! If you sign up to Profit Accumulator they have such easy to follow videos which you can follow step by step. I think I watched them two or three times before taking part and even when I was placing my first bet I watched the video whilst doing it. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to place bets with your eyes closed (don’t though, that would be silly!)

Q3. Is it legal? How is it tax-free?
A3. Yes totally. I know people often think good money making solutions can’t be legal, but this is!! It’s also classed as gambling (even though it isn’t as it’s totally risk-free) so you don’t have to pay tax on any earnings made through Matched Betting making a perfect solution whilst on maternity leave.

Q4. It’s gambling so how on earth is it risk-free?
Q4. It’s actually betting, a gamble is where you chuck £10 down on something potentially winning. We are covering both odds so we prepare for something to win and to not win. As long as you stick to the exact instructions laid out by Profit Accumulator, you literally cannot go wrong. If you decide you are cleverer than the system, that’s where mistakes happen. (I once thought I was cleverer!)

Q5. Do I need to sign up to Profit Accumulator
A5. No, there are plenty of blogs out there that will teach you Matched Betting, but Profit Accumulator is basically Matched Betting for Dummies if you like. It has step by step videos so you cannot make a mistake, it shows you all of the latest offers from the bookies and is always up to date. It has a calculator to work out the amounts you need to enter (you’ll understand more about that once you sign up) and it also has a support forum for any questions you’ll have. The forum is really good, I’ve never used bookies before Matched Betting so I needed some help jargon busting initially!

Q6. How much money could I make?
A6. That definitely depends on whats on and how much time you want to put in. I am not an “avid Matched Better” and I normally make £50 on the weekends. I have started doing it in the week and now make £50 in the week and £50 at the weekends. Over the course of Cheltenham, I made £300 in one week! The more hours you put in, the more you’re going to make.

Q7. Could I do this as a job?
A7. You can definitely do it as a source of income! If you’re already a SAHM, it’s a great way to top up your household incomings but I don’t think it’s wise to class it as your job purely because I don’t see people seeing “professional better” as a sufficient job title. It’s certainly a good way to top up your income though!

Q8. Is there support out there in case I need help?
Course. Don’t just take my word for it, here is From Pennies to Pounds post about Matched Betting and also Emma Drew’s post on it too. You can also find more tips on Matched Betting Blog and this Facebook Group is a great help! Also, Profit Accumulator has a help forum!

  • this is defiantly something ill have to look into

  • I've seen so much about this around.. I wish I would have looked into it more when I was on mat leave as it would have been lovely to get those spare pennies in my pocket!

  • I've heard about this so much, I just need to put the time aside to look into it.

  • You guys introduced me to this and although July was probably the absolute worst month to start I'm slowly getting my head around it. I still can't get into that fb group though.

  • I need to get my head around this!! I have looked before and just been like NAAAHHH but its going to help!! I NEED TO DO IT. HELP ME
    Love from Daisy xxx

  • Love this, have bookmarked it for later 🙂 x

  • I love the idea of Matched Betting, but I just don't have the time or concentration for it I think! xo

  • I have been thinking about doing this for ages just to make a bit of extra money but it seems so scary! This was definitely very helpful thank you 🙂 ox

  • I really think I'm going to do this! asap!

  • My mum who doesn’t work does this. First I thought she was going crazy and getting addicted to gambling… but she sat me down and showed me how it all worked and it is amazing if you have the time to do it and clever enough to sort it! It’s basically becoming your own little bookies, I think she also sells bets and odds to others. And you get a tonne of free bets so you rarely actually have to put your own money into it!
I might get her to teach me more when she has the time!
    Much love, Caitylis x x
