Reflecting on 2016 & 2017 Goals

I am so proud of 2016 when I think back to how I saw the year in. When writing my goals for my 2016 blog post and reflecting on 2015 I felt seriously depressed, I wasn’t pregnant. That had secretly been all I wanted, my own little baby.

Little did I know that a few short months later, after I gave up trying, little Rory Clarke secretly embedded his way into my uterus and shocked us all the day before Mothers Day. I was finally having my baby and going to be a mummy – all I ever wanted.

Did I achieve my 2016 goals?

Focus on Blogging: Yes! Becoming pregnant and a mummy gave my blog a real direction and I found a new community which I love. My blog now documents our family and we’ll always have this place to look back upon. Having direction for your blog means no more writer’s block or feeling that you are spouting out the same content as everyone else. It feels good.
Sort the garden out: Yes, however solely because my mum took charge and sorted it for me! Our garden was previously a mix of soil and concrete with no purpose, now it is all beautifully paved and ready for plants in the new year.
Finish the last house bits: Hmm… we are in a better place! We never used to have a third bedroom due to it having no flooring, this has now completely decorated into Imogen’s room, the second bedroom has been re-decorated for Rory and Ben and we re-decorated our bedroom to be warmer. However, there are still a couple more things that need doing!
Carry on working on our family: Hello Baby Rory! Yes, this goal was 100% achieved!

Goals for 2017.

Absorb my baby: I am incredibly conscious of how quickly time goes with a new baby and as I am back to work in August I want to make sure I don’t regret rushing it by and not taking it in properly.
Make some mummy friends: I have been so guilty of shying away from baby groups and not getting out there. In the new year I am going to drag both our arses out in the new year and make some friends.
Up my Blogger & YouTube game: 2016 was a big deal for my blog, I really managed to find myself and my niche. This unlocked a whole new group of friends and readers as well as helping me write posts with more direction. I want to really take it to the next level in 2017 with a new name, better quality of posts/videos and consistency!
Read More: Okay, so this is a token gesture. I always want to read more but it never seems to happen, night feeds seem like a good opportunity and also listening to audiobooks (cheating) when feeding in the daytime! However, with a baby this is pie in the sky and if it doesn’t happen it’s not the end of the world!
